Stop smoking
design competition...
NHS Worcestershire stop smoking services team
are calling on all 12 - 16 year olds for their creativity. A
competition has opened to find a great design idea for new stop
smoking referral cards. The stop smoking referral cards will
be used as a way to provide smokers with contact details of their
local NHS stop smoking service. We would like entrants to send in
design ideas that will encourage young people to contact their
local NHS Stop Smoking Service for help and support on giving up
for good. The winning design will then be made into a referral card
to fit in the smoker's wallet so that they can easily find the
information they need, when they need it. For more information on
the competition and how to enter, see our
press release.
Health Information week well received at local
supermarkets
Public Health team worked in partnership
with Worcestershire Health libraries (WACUTE) and
Worcestershire Public libraries to promote Health Information
week. The combined effort saw displays put up around the
county promote the new Public Health website and a range of healthy
lifestyle information; Books on Prescription (a service where
clinicians prescribe self health books, which are available from
public libraries) and Inspire (open access for the public to most
libraries including those in universities and colleges). During the
week over 2,000 pieces of healthy lifestyle information was
distributed to the public, including Change4Life snack swappers and
special tape measures which show an adult's risk of developing type
2 diabetes. One person commented at the Redditch information
display "It is good you are doing preventative work rather than
sitting in the hospital waiting for people to be ill".
