Health Fund
The Health Improvement Fund was launched by Worcestershire
Partnership in September 2008 to support initiatives that encourage
and enable healthier lifestyles against national and local Health
Improvement targets listed below:
- Increasing adult participation in sport
- Reducing the number of people admitted to hospital because of
injuries caused by alcohol
- Reducing obesity among primary school children (year 6)
- Increasing opportunities for young people to take part in
positive activities
- Reducing the number of under 18's falling pregnant
- Reducing the number of deaths from circulatory diseases amongst
under 75's
- Reducing the number of people who smoke
£1million was made available to Partner organisations to bid for
over three annual rounds, with up to £75,000 made available for
individual initiatives. Funding could be used to support capital or
revenue based activity, including equipment, staff or other running
costs. A total of 136 bids were received, of these 41 were
approved. Please note the Fund is now closed.
Close monitoring and evaluation of funded initiatives is well
underway. The findings of which are helping to build a more
comprehensive picture of their contribution to meeting local and
national health targets and will inform future health improvement
planning.
