Your Services
NHS Worcestershire began on 1st October 2006 after
evolving from the merger of three organisations: Redditch and
Bromsgrove, South Worcestershire and Wyre Forest.
Our key responsibilities are:
- maintaining and improving the health of the local
population
- commissioning primary, secondary and tertiary services
- developing primary care
NHS Worcestershire's responsibility is to ensure that we
keep the county's 553,000 residents healthy and ensure you receive
the highest quality medical treatment when you are ill.
Services are 'commissioned' or purchased by NHS Worcestershire
from local health bodies such as Worcestershire Health and Care NHS
Trust, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust (which runs
Worcestershire Royal Hospital, the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch,
and Kidderminster Hospital) and West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS
Trust. In addition, contracts are placed within the county with 67
